    Safe Sets explores the systemic issues impacting the health and wellbeing of film workers providing a deep dive into the health and safety of the film industry.

    Dr. Heinzelmann weaves together his own research and candid interviews with crew, union representatives, public health experts and well known performers like John Malkovich and Jon Hamm. Critical issues uncovered include sleep deprivation, toxic exposure, repetitive stress injuries, grueling work hours and potentially deadly accidents.

    We'll also have a sneak peek of the Safe Sets film in advance of its premiere at the upcoming New Hampshire Film Festival on October 19-20.

    VIFF presents films of all genres and styles from around the world and the US as well as hosting filmmakers & special guests, workshops, and lectures.

    This year’s Vermont International Film Festival opens October 18th with a screening of Cannes Grand Prix winning film All We Imagine As Light at the Main Street Landing Film House, Burlington, VT with a party to follow at Deep City.

    Introducing a new short film festival from WIFVNE Member Lau Lapides! The Voices and Visions Film Festival will be held Friday, October 25, at 7:00 PM at the Capitol Theater, Arlington, MA.

    The festival kicks off with a Red Carpet mixer, the screening of shorts, a Q&A feedback session and awards. Deadline to submit is October 21st and submission fee includes two tickets to the festival screening!

    al is dedicated to providing a platform for both emerging and established filmmakers to share their unique narratives. With over 20 short film categories, the festival aims to celebrate a diverse range of voices and visions, including a showcase just for filmmakers under 18.

The evening kicks off with a cocktail reception at 5:30pm in the Yawkey Atrium, followed by this year's speakers in the Yawkey Theater.     GBH Welcome Speaker Mabel Jong is a Special Correspondent at HealthDay, the largest producer of health education & news content worldwide. She is a professional on-camera interviewer and panel moderator specializing in healthcare and business news and contracts as an on-site interviewer at numerous industry conferences and events including thINc360 , Healthcare Leaders, and the International Economic Alliance.

    A multi-award-winning journalist with over two decades of experience working in business news production in the United States, Asia, and Europe, she produced a weekly show out of London for CNBC Europe that focused on the strategies of headline-making CEOs. In addition to her extensive production work, she has worked as an anchor and correspondent for CNBC, NBC News, and ABC News. She reported in Asia during a pivotal time in the region's history, landed a one-on-one interview with Britain's Prime Minister, and has done live shots out in the middle of the ocean aboard an aircraft carrier.

    In addition to her on-camera work, she served as a media advisor to head of the Interim Government in Bangladesh Professor Muhammad Yunus, founder of the Grameen Bank and the late Federal Reserve Chairman Paul Volcker. She is a recent recipient of an Anthem (2024) and a Telly Award (2023) for her writing and reporting work on the PBS show, A World of Difference: Embracing Neurodiversity.
 Mabel is a graduate of the University of California, Los Angeles, and was a Knight Foundation Fellow.

    A Special Memorial Tribute to Katherine "Kat" Tatlock (1938-2022) will also be presented by her daughters Alison and Jessica Tatlock. WIFVNE's Founding Vice President and Board Member, Kat was a trailblazer in the Boston film business and an early participant in the Sundance Film Lab. She created the first series of Martha Stewart cooking videos, worked on many independent films and wrote, directed and produced award-winning projects on a range of complex social issues.

    Her video Jail Break, documented by photographer Robert Beauvais, followed four teenagers taking a life-changing tour of a local prison. Collaborating with writer Susan Shepherd, Kat directed the narrative audio series 11 Central Ave, which played on the public radio show Morning Edition. Other notable work includes the documentary Outside In, which chronicled Dr. Kasia Clarke's inspiring battle with ovarian cancer.

    Kat was a guest instructor at Boston University and Boston College. She also served as a mentor for the non-profit Women Thriving and was honored to be interviewed for their series "Courageous Women Leaders."

    Keynote Speaker Nicole Galovski is Co-Founder and Executive Producer at Culture House. She is one of the creators and the showrunner of Growing Up, a hybrid docuseries for Disney+ with Brie Larson, she is also the executive producer of The Hair Tales for Hulu and OWN and an upcoming Netflix docuseries about race and gender in America.

    Nicole produced 2022 Tribeca premiere Of Medicine and Miracles about Dr. Carl June's ground-breaking cure for childhood leukemia, and Netflix's What Would Sophia Loren Do which was shortlisted for an Academy Award.

    Scripted feature film credits include New York Times critic pick All Creatures Here Below (Samuel Goldwyn) and Tribeca premiere Poor Boy (Indican Pictures). Credits also include Showtime Documentary Tough Guys, and Jon Stewart’s Emmy Nominated HBO special Night of Too Many Stars.

    She has produced award-winning brand work for Toyota, Microsoft, Apple, Orangetheory, Serena Williams, University of Utah, and Visit Philadelphia.

    Nicole’s work has received support from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, UN Foundation, Impact Partners, Artemis Rising Foundation, Rockefeller Foundation, and the Utah Film Center.
